SQDCP, a Visual Treat to Shop Floor Management
What does SQDCP stand for?
S - Safety
Q - Quality
D - Delivery
C - Cost
P - People
Nowadays many organizations and industries are following SQDPC as a KPI (Key Performance Index) monitoring and measuring system to visualize the efficiency and performance of their business or process. KPIs are measured on the basis of their SQDCP index as agreed between the stakeholder/client and the resource/company.
SQDCP boards are placed on shop floors to quickly visualize the daily performance of key areas.
How to implement the SQDCP board?
Implementing a SQDCP/SQCDP needs great level of collaboration and understanding between the team members. The purpose of it has to be clearly communicated and ensured with proper training in order to encourage the team to utilize the board by filling in the data correctly and to use it effectively.
As you can see from the figure above, the SQDCP or SQCDP board has the safety, quality, delivery, cost and people metrics that has to be noted on a daily basis and analyzed.
SAFETY can have parameters such as;
- No Accidents
- No Injuries
- No Near Miss
- No unsafe work process
- No safety violation
- Everyone wearing PPEs
- No Lose of Work Time due to Injuries
- No Dangerous Work Practices
- No Hazardous Chemical Leakage
- Fire Hydrants Systems checked and validated
QUALITY can have parameters such as;
- 5S Activity
- Defects Level
- Process Yield Percentage
- Tolerance Check
- Quality Control Checks on Products
- KAIZEN Projects
- Deviation and Variance
DELIVERY can have parameters such as;
- On Time Delivery to Clients
- Delivery Lead Time
- Delivery Procedures and Methods
- Good Packaging of Products for Delivery
- Delivery Assistance
- Delivery Satisfaction Index
- Defects Cost
- Re-Work Cost
- Scraping Cost
- Cost of Unplanned Resources
- Cost of Production Losses
- Material Wastage Cost
- Replacement Cost of Goods to Customer
- No of Absentees
- Over Time Requests
- Training Needs
- Cross Functional Knowledge Transfer Sessions
At the end of each day, evaluate the performance based on the safety, quality, delivery, cost & people metrics/parameters and fill all the data in the SQDCP board. At the start of each day, the DM meeting is conducted in the shop floor before the start of the shift to discuss and understand the issues, bottlenecks that had occurred the previous day and are addressed immediately. Brainstorming takes place in the meeting to come up with possible solutions to implement the corrective action and monitor the changes in order to avoid re-occurrence and to eliminate the problem or issue or bottleneck. This is a continuous improvement drive that continuous every single day addressing the daily issues and overcoming them efficiently.
